It's in the field of Science and I'm no Scientist. It's not a topic I should be reviewing. However it's THE buzzword of the century and the forefront of technology & what's to come in the next decade and century. Hence, the need to be informed about it just as we needed to know about IT & ET!

I first read about it in a magazine article on the plane a few months ago. The headline is China is big in Nanotech. China, (tick!) I know all about China. Nanotech, what the H is that? I haven't been on Discovery Channel for almost 2 years (granted), but I  haven't seen much of Nanotech on the net either. Right, I found out now that I haven't been looking hard enough and in the right places! All I've seen was the financial chaos spilled over from Wall Street! Can't help but see it since my portfolio was shrinking by the hour!!! That's highly depressing!

As the dust settles (a friend of mine loves to say this) and the world comes to term with what Alan Greenspan termed as something that happens only once in a 100 years (and we are all so lucky as to live in this century, oh boy!), a more positive outlook begins to emerge this year. And with that, my brain begins to function normally and see things outside the rhealm of economics & finance! No, I'm sitll recovering and after the ICU of 2008 one needs to focus one's attention on something less tragic and more hopeful. That's when Nanotech begins to emerge as a concept and something to look forward to in the future. Out of desperation, our world needs to be innovative again! And by that I mean truly innovative as in producing something and NOT just innovative on the books like the bankers and speculators had been doing in the last decade! Nanotech is not a bubble or hype and it shall not burst (HOPEFULLY!)! 

Nanotech, or nanotechnology is the study of the control of matter on molecular scale and the manipulation of matter in nano scale to make new materials from it. There you have it, in simple term. Although, hehe... it's not as simple as that sound, as many scientists will attest.

The next big thing is the smallest thing in the world, the scientists love to say! And since I'm no scientist, I'll leave the scientist to do what they do best, to explain it all to you. These documentaries are great, so be sure to check them out! I will have to say YouTube is turning out to be extremely helpful and useful to me so much so I've to rerate it a 5 now! Thanks to the collaborators of YouTube that I'm able to see many documentaries and videos I'd otherwise not have been exposed to in the countries I'm now living and traveling in.

YES! There are great implications for mankind. Nanotech is here to stay and the more we learn about it, the better we're prepared for the future and what's to come. It's been known that China and Europe have mega investments in this area. America has not but for the sake of the entire world, America needs to. America has some of the most innovative personnels and scientists in the world!

Great review of this fascinating technology I've read the book Nano by Ed Regis about 10 years ago and it really opened my eyes to oh so many new posibillities that technology will brings us. Sometimes the randomnes of the internet can be so funny, here I am looking at a review of nano technology and the advert on the right side of the page is "Asian girls for dating" Ha Ha. So now we know, there are no Nano firms advertising on Lunch only dating services.

Thanks, Orn! I wish there are more people interested in the possibilities of Nanotech. However, among people that I come into contact, most still have no idea what it is. All they are interested in are the hype on the latest iPhone and iPad. I'm interested too but I think I'll probably get the free Samsung Galaxy Tab offered (bundled with the pocket wifi subscription which I'm about to sign up) instead.

Dating & Nanotech? Well, you never know. May be one day there would be a technology to detect attraction & compatibility ;-)

Whoa, Sharrie, I know that you challenged me to a nanotech review in my Getting Productive with Google Apps review, but you win, because I would've never been able to write about nanotechnology like this!  Cool videos, too.  Thanks for sharing, lady! :)

Lol... I wasn't challenging you at all. Simply thought no one was interested in this kind of write up but since you're the star here, you might be able to draw some interest if you do write about it ;-) Thanks for the compliment, I really didn't do much, simply gather some great info and videos on the net to help myself make sense of the future trends. Glad you like it though :-) Thanks for checking it out! I'm looking forward to more reviews from you on tech talks since u're pretty close to the source :-)

I did that for about 3-4 years on VirtualTourist. Then I lost it altogether. Too much of a good thing, I'd say ;-)
