I have an 8 year old black field lab who has some very unusual health issues. She periodically goes lame for reasons that no vet has ever been able to discover and she has a rare genetic disorder that causes her to grow bone - not bone spurs - actual bone throughout her body.
She was in tremendous pain constantly about 4 years ago and I had to seriously consider putting her out of her misery because nothing was helping her. A full body X-ray showed massive bone clumps growing along all of her spine and she has bone growth on all of her joints and her paws. Vitamin C is excellent for bone and muscles - it has made a world of difference and has allowed her to become her normal ball crazed and happy self. If your dog has lameness issues, it might be worth checking into.
