Incredibly luxurious texture but I'm conflicted otherwise.

Upon first touch, this cream is luxurious and silky, though quite thin in consistency compared to your average face cream. The texture is really quite divine. Unfortunately, it comes along with a strong flowery fragrance that, while perhaps not totally overpowering, is definitely off-putting to those of us who are sensitive to fragrances. Over the weeks that I've been using the cream, I've become accustomed to the fragrance and it is no longer so unpleasant as it was to me the first night (though, when I open the jar, it still hits me like a ton of bricks).

I have extremely dry skin, so any product that promised "continuous hydration" overnight was a product I wanted to try. However, upon awaking in the morning, I haven't found it any more hydrating than any other cream I have used before bed. I sleep with a ceiling fan above the bed and, while I enjoy it, it can definitely be a hydration robber.

The main problem I had in using this as a face cream is that I had a reaction to it (a mild but itchy rash on parts of my face) right from the get-go. According to the box, this product is "non-comedogenic" (i.e., doesn't block pores), "non-greasy" and "dermatologist tested and recommended," which would infer that I would be unlikely to have a reaction, but I still did. Granted, I have sensitive skin and am prone to contact dermatitis (a reaction to jewelry or products on my skin), but I have used many face creams without reactions.

One possible explanation I had for the reaction is perhaps my night cream was not playing well with my day cream. See, when I first get up in the morning to walk the dog, I put on some day cream on my face because it's been cold and windy out and my face is dry from overnight. So perhaps there was some chemical reaction between the two creams.

As a result of this reaction on my face, I stopped using the cream on my face but continued to use it daily on my hands, which are extremely dry and flaky in the winter so that I could continue testing it for this review. The fragrance bothered me much less when using it on my hands; in fact, I came to rather enjoy it. The cream did a nice job of making my hands soft and smooth vs. flaky and dry and I had no dermatological reaction on my hands as I'd had on my face.

So you see the conflict I have in rating this product. I decided on 3 stars because, while I loved the texture, I disliked the fragrance and while it worked nicely on my hands, it didn't "continuously hydrate" my face at night as promised and I had an itchy reaction from it.

Neutorgena's Continuous Hydration Night cream is a pretty good product of its kind in this price range. It has a silky, creamy consistency that goes on smoothly and feels wonderful on the skin. After days (nights) of use I can say from experience that it does what it claims. It keeps your skin moisturized all night without feeling oily. I wake up with no dry skin and when washing my face in the morning can feel the remants of the cream come off. It is great for sealing in moisture and protecting …

I've been using Neutrogena Ageless Essentials Continuous Hydration Night Moisturizer, 1.7-Ounce Jars for about 3 weeks now and it has really turned my skin around from being rough and overly dry to feeling soft again. Although being in the northwest you'd think we would have plenty of moisture to prevent dry skin, but every winter I face the same problem. By February I have small dry patches on my face that really bother me and quite often slathering on lotion just causes my skin to break out.    &nb …

There's just no getting away from it - I love Neutrogena products, and almost anything from their skincare line. The stuff has a marvelous texture, a great scent, and it just works with no issues.    So as a lifelong Neutrogena babe, I can say this is a nice cream. It goes on smoothly, disappears almost instantly, and provides a continuous, energetic lift to the skin.    I can't say per se if it improves wrinkles, mostly because I don't have many (but then, …

Neutrogena Ageless Essentials is the latest product I've incorporated into my arsenal for fighting wrinkles. I have also used Eucerin Q10, Retinol, and a Dermabrasion/Chemical peel kit.    The Eucerin Q10 left my skin feeling greasy and after several months of using it, I decided it neither works in reducing wrinkles nor the appearance of wrinkles. If anything, it actually accentuated my wrinkles since the greasiness tends to "loosen" my skin rather than make it more taut.     …

As a long term Mary Kay Timewise line user, I was leery to switch out my nightly moisturizer to try the Neutrogena Ageless Essentials Continuous Hydration Night Moisturizer.     I believe that it takes at least two weeks for skin to respond to a change in products. I've used this for two and-a-half weeks now and overall I'm very impressed with the results.    The texture is thicker than what I'm accustomed to using. This was a concern because I didn't want …

I like Neutrogena products and my dermatologist recommends the line to us a lot. I trust their products and have never had a bad experience. I really liked this cream, but have especially dry skin and it was not quite enough for me as a night treatment, however, it went on smooth, and left my skin feeling soft...if not completely moisturized. It would most likely suit me better as a night cream in the summer months when we are not running our heat constantly.   BUT since it wasn't heavy …
