NeverShoutNever! started out as a boy from Joplin, MO making cutesy electro-acoustic pop music. Until very recently, when Christofer Drew Ingle started gaining quite a large amount of attention nationally. Now headlining tours with shows selling out, the only question remaining is what label will pick up this artist. I got a chance to see him in perform live. Going in, I was worried because I had heard some bad stories about his actual vocal ability. Quite contrary to what I heard I was impressed at the performance overall. One thing that was physically impossible to notice however, was the over-the-top adorable act being put on by the constantly smiling front man. Christofer even start giggling so much that the 11 year old girls in the audience were becoming annoyed. Not to mention the 20 something times he mumbled "I love you all so much" in the middle of various songs. My initial reaction was "well this guy is putting on a good show, but he seriously sucks as a person". I mean, no one can be that happy, can they? I've travelled my fair share, but I've never seen any human being quite like this. My second thought was, "he must be high out of his mind". I'd still put money on it, but after more thought, I realized that this was not the only reason for such an annoying act of happiness. Christofer Drew is a character/image created to sell music or clothes, or anything else he can. He's so clean cut that he thinks ass is "a scary word". These things that he's built his character around target perfectly for the tween masses. Especially the suburbanite tweens who have mommy and daddy's checkbooks at their disposal. The only question left, is whether or not his fanbase will figure this out? Can he continue to sell and sell without kids figuring this out? How far can he take it? I personally hope to see guest appearances from Barney and the Teletubbies on his upcoming album.
