Stay as long as you want at this charming Chicago coffee house in Lincoln Park. Free Wi-Fi, too!

Ever wish you could find an indie coffee shop where you can study for hours upon hours in almost complete silence without getting "the look" ("buy another coffee drink, or get out") from the smug chick behind the counter?

Enter Noble Tree, a three-story brownstone with an array of comfy antique furniture, friendly baristas, no limit on how long you can stay, and some peace-and-quiet. (Well, the first floor isn't so quiet. That's reserved for the second and third levels.) You can stay as long as you like, and you can use one of two Wi-Fi connections free of charge.

Their pastries are awesome, and their coffee's delish. I had a vegetarian sandwich last time I was there, and it didn't impress me. But it wasn't bad at all.

The one downside for me is that all three floors are always crowded during nights and weekends. It still remains quiet, though!

It's a wonder that this coffee house sits amid two boisterous sports bars/restaurants on Clark Street--Mickey's and The Galway Arms. But it does. And it rules.

This place is definitely a good alternative to Bourgeois Pig. I worked on a my huge summer writing project at Noble Tree, and it never failed me... You're right, the sandwiches aren't that great, but I usually grab something from the Lincoln Park supermarket or that middle-eastern place across the street. Sigh, I miss Chicago!
