Clearly I know nothing about Politics or the systematic structures and legalities surrounding the governmental workings and offices. Having said that, I do know when a police officer ask for my ID, I'd have to show it (at least in this part of the world, I have to, after checking if he/she is indeed the real police! One can't be too careful these days!). I also know that when I travel, I'd have to take my passport along and everywhere I go. Yes, one will have to produce a passport too if requested by a foreign officer.

So, what makes a presidential candidate so special that he can't simply produces a birth certificate? What I mean is, doesn't everyone has a birth certificate? And if not, why not? What is so special about President Obama's case? I don't quite get it, may be someone can enlighten me on that account since I didn't really follow his election progress and the fuss about birth cert release.

And, now that it's been released, people are checking its authenticity, I assume. At least from what reporting medias are saying or even Donald Trump are claiming! By all means check, this certainly feel like a circus to me. Again, it seems like this kind of things only happens in America! What a fun country :-)

Granted, this matter has nothing to do with us non-Americans. Of course, all Americans must know if he truly is the real American! God forbids if a Kenyan rules such a mighty country! Oh no!!!

As pressing as this matter is, the crux of the matter is not President Obama or where he's born. It is the hoo-hah revolving the next presidential election. And who took the spotlight? Mr. Donald Trump! The guy who loves firing and in this case, may be attempting to fire the United States of America's President? Well, you tell me what is actually happening... he has the audacity, doesn't he?!?!?!

Read more about this issue on HuffPost Politics.

The way I see it, Donald Trump has taken center stage again! His very own word?
"I've accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish!!"

I'll leave you to listen to the entire speech. As I've said in one of the comments on another review, this guy is not going to help the world like America more if he becomes the next President!

As for President Obama, now he can get to work, if he hasn't done so already for the last 2 years!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I will just say again what I said in Sam's QT: "for me, Trump is a showman (he does have a reality show before) and Obama is too. You're the president, so why should you care what Trump does (even if he was advised to)? It got me thinking, who is more the showman now, Trump or the one who bites into Trump's baiting? No matter what the motivation was, a leader must ignore these things....as he said it was a waste of time for the media (better things to do like the economy, health care and international interests), and yet, here he was...

For me, acknowledging something (made by idiots) for whatever reason gives it more validity and credibility, ignore it and it would send the message that it is pointless and not worth bothering with. Then again, maybe there is more to it than we know. Politics meh...no wonder my brother went crazy in political science" :)

By the way, thanks for all the QT's in ASIANatomy!! I will check out your tips in Movie Hype a little later.

Just a couple of thoughts. And if I'm wrong I hope someone will correct me with facts. Obama did release his birth certificate some time ago...the short form, a perfectly legal document. The certificate stuff has been a ripe, moist red herring which, if answered quickly, would have simply been tossed at some other issue of "legitimacy," say, just to make things up, his university records. Word has it that next week Donald Trump will demand that Obama during a nationally televised broadcast unzip, take it out and prove once and for all that he is not (or is) circumcised.

LOL.... it's a circus you guys live in! There's only 1 form as far as my birth certificate goes. Short form? Long form? Oh my... things are certainly complicated and pretty scary out there in America! One thing I do not quite conform to is the degree of freedom one gets in the U.S. Hey, but that's just me. We show respect to our leaders no matter how much we don't like the guy!

Mr. Donald Trump, your actions have been very well noticed. With the exception of your personal followers, I, along with the rest of the world believe that the harassment that was launched against the most powerful citizen in the United States of America was an unnecessary distraction that could have destroyed our country. This harassment was further insulated with a statement of yours that entertained the thought that you could run this great union of states better than the current leader.   …

I'm a little confused. Wasn't The Donald attacking the fact that he showed proof of a live birth and not the actual birth certificate? What's the difference between the two? I think this is the most ridiculous waste of time. What other President has ever had to show their Birth Certificate to the American public?     I happen to think that there is much more important matters for the President to attend to than contacting Hawaii to produce proof of his American birth and citizenship, …

It's long overdue and it should have been done back then and not under the pressure from Donald! Now, Trump is feeling smug and taking credit for it! Oh no!

About this topic

On April 22, 2011, Obama asked Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, for certified copies of his original Certificate of Live Birth ("long-form birth certificate"). Accompanying the letter was a written request from Judith Corley, Obama's personal counsel, requesting a waiver of the department's policy on computer-generated certificates. Corley stated that granting the waiver would relieve the department of the burden of repeated inquiries into the President's birth records.

On April 25, 2011, Fuddy approved the request and witnessed the copying process as the health department's registrar issued the certified copies. The same day, Corley personally visited the department headquarters in Honolulu to pay the required fee on Obama's behalf, and received the two requested certified copies of the original birth certificate, an accompanying letter from Fuddy attesting to the authenticity of same, and a receipt for the processing fee. Fuddy said that she had granted the exception to its normal policy of issuing only computer-generated copies by virtue of Obama's status, in an effort to avoid ongoing requests for the birth certificate.

On April 27, White House staff gave reporters a copy of Obama's Certificate of Live Birth and also posted it on the White House website. This document confirms the details of the official short-form certificate released in 2008.
