I'm a little confused. Wasn't The Donald attacking the fact that he showed proof of a live birth and not the actual birth certificate? What's the difference between the two? I think this is the most ridiculous waste of time. What other President has ever had to show their Birth Certificate to the American public?

I happen to think that there is much more important matters for the President to attend to than contacting Hawaii to produce proof of his American birth and citizenship, which would have been covered the minute he decided to run for President. In any case, I'm glad it's all taken care of so he can get back to his job and we can get back to holding our government accountable for their actions that actually have impact on our lives.

for me, Trump is a showman (he does have a reality show before) and Obama is too. You're the president, so why should you care what Trump does (even if he was advised to)? It got me thinking, who is more the showman now, Trump or the one who bites into Trump's baiting? No matter what the motivation was, a leader must ignore these things....as he said it was a waste of time for the media (better things to do like the economy, health care and international interests), and yet, here he was...

For me, acknowledging something (made by idiots) for whatever reason gives it more validity and credibility, ignore it and it would send the message that it is pointless and not worth bothering with. Then again, maybe there is more to it than we know. Politics meh...no wonder my brother went crazy in political science :)

Nice QT!!

I couldn't agree more...I would've laughed at Donald and told him to grow up. Obviously, I wouldn't be the President if I wasn't a citizen or born here, moron...didn't he read @'s review? Politics is definitely not for me, I used to be super passionate about it until I realized that passion doesn't get you far in politics....so maybe I'll stick to music ;p

Yep, should have got it out of the way long time ago! To do so only because Trump makes noise? Yuck!

it is all about showmanship, my friend LOL!!

Exactly on both accounts ;p Trump doesn't have a leg to stand on, so he's grasping at straws.

Mr. Donald Trump, your actions have been very well noticed. With the exception of your personal followers, I, along with the rest of the world believe that the harassment that was launched against the most powerful citizen in the United States of America was an unnecessary distraction that could have destroyed our country. This harassment was further insulated with a statement of yours that entertained the thought that you could run this great union of states better than the current leader.   …

Clearly I know nothing about Politics or the systematic structures and legalities surrounding the governmental workings and offices. Having said that, I do know when a police officer ask for my ID, I'd have to show it (at least in this part of the world, I have to, after checking if he/she is indeed the real police! One can't be too careful these days!). I also know that when I travel, I'd have to take my passport along and everywhere I go. Yes, one will have to produce a passport too …

It's long overdue and it should have been done back then and not under the pressure from Donald! Now, Trump is feeling smug and taking credit for it! Oh no!

About this topic

On April 22, 2011, Obama asked Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, for certified copies of his original Certificate of Live Birth ("long-form birth certificate"). Accompanying the letter was a written request from Judith Corley, Obama's personal counsel, requesting a waiver of the department's policy on computer-generated certificates. Corley stated that granting the waiver would relieve the department of the burden of repeated inquiries into the President's birth records.

On April 25, 2011, Fuddy approved the request and witnessed the copying process as the health department's registrar issued the certified copies. The same day, Corley personally visited the department headquarters in Honolulu to pay the required fee on Obama's behalf, and received the two requested certified copies of the original birth certificate, an accompanying letter from Fuddy attesting to the authenticity of same, and a receipt for the processing fee. Fuddy said that she had granted the exception to its normal policy of issuing only computer-generated copies by virtue of Obama's status, in an effort to avoid ongoing requests for the birth certificate.

On April 27, White House staff gave reporters a copy of Obama's Certificate of Live Birth and also posted it on the White House website. This document confirms the details of the official short-form certificate released in 2008.
