I used to always say that I'm not a shoe person, but after dragging my boyfriend along my last few shopping trips, it's pretty apparent that I am (to him, at least)! I guess the difference is that I am not obsessed with the shoes that most women are (pumps or espadrilles). I look for cute, comfortable everyday shoes. That's not always an easy combination to find! Now that the weather is warming up and summer is just around the corner, I needed to find something other than my Rainbows to keep my feet happy and cool on the scorching days ahead.
It has already been established that I am quite a fan of other Patagonia products, but I had yet to purchase Patagonia footwear until recently. I stumbled upon the Alkali shoe while I was perusing the company website, but until I tried them on I didn't think they'd satisfy my insatiable need for comfort. I was shocked when I slipped them on and they felt so soft, light and comfy. Most strappy sandals tear at your skin and leave you with blisters and sore arches, but not these. I've been wearing them for the last couple of weeks and I love them. They don't rub on my feet, they don't aggravate my arches and they are just as beautiful as they were when I bought them.
They were expensive, I'm not going to lie, but even at $80 they're worth avoiding the foot pain that results from other strappy sandals out there. They come in four colors: marsh green, velvet brown, teakwood and deep ocean. I went for teakwood, but deep ocean was a close second. If you're searching for the perfect summer shoe, check out the Alkali shoe line at Patagonia. Just slip on a pair and you'll know exactly what I mean!

This sandal steps up where others lose their nerve. The soft pigskin leather lining and suede footbed conform to your feet over time. The jute-wrapped, compression-molded EVA midsole (15% recycled) cushions for all-day wear. And all the leather is tanned to high (ISO 14001) environmental standards.
