When we get to college, it gets frustrating when you have "no" clothes to wear, and you've exhausted your roommate's wardrobe completely. All you want to do is get in your car and drive to the nearest mall, but wait, your parents didn't let you bring your car down to the University of Illinois. Luckily for our campus, Pitaya is located on Green Street right next to Za's for our fashion convenience.
Now, in terms of actual apparel, Pitaya carries a nice array of pretty much anything for anyone's style. They carry edgy fur vests to tailored blouses to breezy dresses. Their great assortment of plain tees that come in virutally every color fit really well (I own about 4!), and they only cost $12 each. Pitaya was featured on CollegeFashionista.com last semester, and I know many girls on campus that head to Pitaya to pick up stylish frocks for a semi-formal or impromptu date.
In terms of prices, I like to think of Pitaya as a little more expensive than Forever21, but less pricier than Urban Outfitters. Most of their dresses are in the $32-45 range, and their necklaces and more compex earrings start at around $15. And for us College Recessionistas -- I mean Fashionistas -- these prices are not breaking the bank full of our hard-earned cash, or loans, for that matter.
Pitaya is not only a great place to shop because of its apparel, but also because it is clean and organized. Sifting through piles of shirts and shifting hangers to find that perfect pair of jeans at mall shops can be tiresome, but Pitaya is organized in color families (think reds, oranges, and browns all in the same vicinity), and then everything is further organized into tops on the higher racks and bottoms on the lower racks. Navigation is key when shopping; no one wants to get further stressed when stopping in for a quick look-around between classes and mid-terms.
Pitaya is definitely a great place to peruse if you're looking for some new items to add to your fashion selection.
