The Pure Wild Blueberry raw fruit and nut bar is made of fruit (dates, blueberries) and nuts (cashews, walnuts and almonds) and is certified organic with additional organic ingredients. One bar is 190 calories, (70 from fat) and a notable 6 gr protein and 3 gr of fiber. The Pure Bar is very similar in texture to a Larabar (which is a less chewy, denser type of fruit leather) with bigger chunks of nuts (compared to the Larabars I've tried.) The Pure Wild Blueberry bar's blueberry flavor burst out in small bites rather than throughout the bar. There is a definite healthy taste so only those who truly like the taste of fruit and nuts are likely to love these. However, if you do like the earthy taste of an organic food bar and are looking for something to carry with you or leave in your desk drawer for a quick, healthy pick-me-up or light lunch fare, you should check further into the Pure Wild Blueberry bar.
The Pure organic bar is lacking in flavor but it is a good substitute for a meal if you are in a hurry or in need of a snack. It’s moist and not crumbly like granola bars and while the flavor is bland, at least it doesn’t taste awful like so many other energy bars. I am not a nutritionist nor do I go out of my way to eat healthy, but that this bar is certified organic and has a lot of natural products in it which is a plus. For energy bar, it’ll do.
Our Wild Blueberry Bar is made with dried, organic, wild blueberries from Oregon. Wild blueberries are important as they have higher ORAC (antioxidant power) values than even cultivated or conventional blueberries; in fact, higher ORAC values than most foods. They also contain nutrients like Vitamin C, potassium, iron and fiber. We specifically choose apple juice-infused (not sugar-infused) wild blueberries to avoid refined sugars.
