Day one in LA. After pulling in with the stylish Prius (I'm now kind of a fan of the car!!) and we settled in at our favorite hotel in the city: The London West Hollywood (http://www.thelondonwesthollywood.com/). Another flawless stay (http://atyourserviceconsulting.blogspot.com/...tay-at-london-west.html)! We were lucky that our room was ready when we arrived at the hotel. We unloaded our bag (!) and headed out to meet some friends of ours for lunch. We were love the old-school diner scene here in LA; Swingers, Panns, Norms, 101 Coffee Shop. We had been to a Norms once a few years ago. Once, only once. We didn't want to drive back towards the airport for Panns. After the torrential rainy winter LA has been experiencing, we had a cloudless 80 degree day with which we took our time and drove down Sunset and Hollywood Boulevards to Gower and drove past the amazing Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, under the 101 freeway and parked behind the odd WAY out of the way wanna be luxe boutique hotel whose construction pretty much made the 101 nearly invisible. Once inside the restaurant, I was immediately transported back to The Slums of Beverly Hills. Granted it was no Sizzler, but hey, what can you do. The colors, the patch-work stone walls, the tufted booths, the swivel-chair counter and orb hanging lights set the mood to the 70s. The tatted crowd and staff kept us in the '10s.
We're greeted by the host who then hands us our menus and points to a nice u-shaped booth for us to seat ourselves. Once we were settled in we looked over the menu. A perfectly paired-down diner menu. Club sandwiches, chocolate malts and orange creamsicle shakes, mandatory California salads section, and breakfast items galore! Chocolate malt was delicious. I would have liked a little more maltiness to it, but that's just me. Next time I'd ask for more malt. We all decided on breakfast foods. And eggy breakfast foods at that. Two of us got the breakfast burrito. Simply eggs, cheese and black beans tightly wrapped in a tortilla and covered with guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream and salsa verde. So good and filling! The others were omelettes and we decided that the next table's sweet potato fries looked so good that we swapped out the sweet potato fries instead of the homefries. Good choice!
After getting our fill on good diner egg creations and malteds, we had to pack it up and head back to the rooftop pool. Where we stayed until my luggage arrived!
