Risk is a game not to be taken lightly.

It's a strategic game of world domination.  Each game of Risk is different--some play for objectives, some play for world domination.  In either case, you're a battle commander and the world is your playground (literally).

Games can range from a couple of hours to a whole day, and entirely dependent on the luck of the dice and the skill and strategy of the players.

Risk is turn based, meaning that only one player can take an action at a time.  They can make as many legal moves as they can, but the more you move, the thinner your army gets.  Like chess, Risk is about planning your moves ahead of time and anticipating your opponents moves.

TIPIf you're a beginner, start out by controlling Australia, as it's the only continent that gives you bonus points and only has one entry point of attack.  It has the greatest defense, but if you're not careful, it'll be hard to expand your empire.
