A Great Jewelry Experience (especially since this was very foreign to me)

I shopped around quite a few places when picking out my fiance's engagement ring.  From diamond brokers downtown to high-end boutique jewelry stores like 23rd Street Jewelers in Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach.  I learned a lot about diamonds in the process and much of it came thanks to the help of Sylva at SN Queens.

SN Queens (specifically Sylva) was referred to me by a friend who runs the jewelry department at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills as the best one stop shop for diamond and setting because they could do it all.... and they did.

SN Queens is a family business started by Sylva's parents but she pretty much runs the show now even though her parents and brothers are still actively involved.  They design much/all of their jewelry which is sold to high end boutiques well known jewelry brands (intentionally not named in this review to preserve SN Queens relationship with them).  Additionally, they have a small retail establishment in downtown LA in the jewelery district where you can buy direct from them.

Warning: When you walk into these places in the jewelry district they feel shady.  It just feels like you are going to get ripped off.  It's not the glitzy retail experience that you think of when buying expensive jewelry.  But... that's also why you can get much better deals.

Sylva really listened to what i was looking for... she was patient and attentive (we spoke many times on the phone as well as multiple visits) and she found me exact stones i wanted even after i changed my mind a few times.  Also, she was very flexible in helping me create the right setting.  When i started on this process i had no idea i had such strong feelings about how my fiance's engagement ring needed to look... but i did.  I never once felt any weird vibes from her even though she knew i was shopping around... a lot.  In fact, she encouraged me to and in end i know why... because she was confident i was going to get the best deal with her.

Highly recommended.

An informative review and congratulations on your engagement. You make some excellent points here. Jewelry is a total mystery to me and It would not take too much for someone to rip me off big time. Glad you found someone you can trust!
