Crazy about shoes

When it comes to shoes, every woman has at least 10 pairs at any point in time, I reckon. Well, at least, any "vain" woman ;-)  (If you think I'm vain when it comes to cosmetics, wait till you hear about my shoes stories...) It's easy to try on a pair of shoes, or several for that matter, and then to take them all home at one go, especially when there are sales on! I've had taken some 10 pairs of Italian shoes right back to the office after a lunch spree. Call that extravagant or call that dumb. I don't know. I'm a woman and women are entitled to some follies in life, aren't we?

Strictly speaking, we only need a pair of shoes at any point in time. However, as with handbags, things have to match, don't they? And looks can make or break the deal, won't they? I wonder if a man ever fall for a woman based on the shoes she put on the first time they meet? I supposed not. In all earnest, I think height does matter when it comes to attraction. Why do we women love shoes so much, if not to attract the opposite sex like the peacock does?

Let me think... it goes way back to Cinderella's days, I believe. Fairy tales and the fact that shoes give a girl a sense of oomph and an elegance (on a pedestal). That's it, isn't it? Whatever the reasons, be it conscious or subconscious, you can hardly find a girl with only a pair of shoes in this world. Even if they are all track shoes, they are a great many pairs of different styles and colors. Sometimes, two of the same pairs! Incredible, isn't it? Our fascination with shoes?

Come to think of it, over the course of my life, I've had countless number of shoes. May be even more than 200! I have lost count! How about you?

Well, shoes are shoes. Then there are other shoes. So, what do I like in general? Depends on the occasions and the seasons. I've had boots that can withstand -40 deg and also sandals that feel great on a 40 deg C day! Generally though, in my younger days, looks are of utmost importance. Now? Comfort! Yes, your shoes don't lie... or rather, your feet don't. When you get past a certain age, high heels on long hours will be a great torture. You figure you no longer need to impress the man, even if he's the president of the country. That's just life... Although, I don't think Imelda Marcos thought so! ;p

No matter how crazed I am, these are shoes I won't be caught in...
Take a look & if you find it funny enough, laugh! Enjoy...

Thanks, Bethany! It's a lot easier to shop for shoes than to write about them ;-)

Only 10 pairs? I guess I must be super vain then! ;P  Seriously though, agreed!  Every woman should have the luxury of a few pairs of nice shoes, sunglasses, handbags, etc, in their life.  Boys have their expensive toys, so girls can have some too!  Not sure if I want the ones in the pictures though.... ;)

Well, I'm trying to tone it down a little. Not wanting to make others feel bad... In reality, triple that and that's just in one household, LOL... Not to mention those in a different country & warehouse! As for you, you're young, you're entitled to be super vain, haha!

About this topic

Wiki

A shoe is an item of footwear  evolved at first to protect the human foot and later, additionally, as an item of decoration in itself. The foot contains more bones  than any other single part of the body, and has evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in relation to vastly varied terrain and climatic conditions. Together with the proprioceptive system, it is what makes balance and ambulation  possible.

Until recent years, shoes were not worn by most of the world's population—largely because they could not afford them. Only with the advent of mass production, making available for the first time the cheap flip-flop-type sandal, for example, has shoe-wearing become predominant.

The design of shoes has varied enormously through time, and from culture to culture, with appearance originally being tied to function. Additionally fashion has often dictated whether shoes have, for example, very high heels or no heels at all. Contemporary footwear varies in style, complexity and cost, from the most basic sandal, via high fashion shoes for women sometimes costing thousands of dollars a pair, to complex boots specially designed for mountaineering or skiing. Shoes have traditionally been made from leather, wood or canvas, but are increasingly made from rubber, plastics, and other petrochemical-derived materials.
