I see a wonderful leading lady.......she isn't stong.......but still brings things to the table

Jane Seymour is certainly a Bond Girl who get a fair share of criticism.  First off, she is probably the youngest Bond Girl to be hired to play the part next to a much older leading man in Roger Moore.  Secondly, she is a bit of, no scratch that-a MAJOR wimp and a major damsel in distress who needs rescuing and third and this one is valid but it does fall more to Bond, Bond CHEATS her out of her virginity.

Bond in the movies, undeniably has an effect on woman, even lesbians.  Yes you read that right.  Women in the movies LOVE BOND.  WHY then is this such a big deal to Solitaire that fans bring this up that Bond sleeps with her and shes a virgin?  Because not only does that youthful and innocent Solitaire lose her virginity to Bond with Bond playing a dirty trick on her, it puts her in danger.

Now I'm not an expert on Tarot, voodoo, Obeah or any of the other occult and religous trappings in Live and Let Die, but Solitaire is a tarot card reader with clairvoiance that gives Dr. Kananga, the movies villian and edge in seeing the future and making his moves: while she is a virgin.  When the bloom is off the rose so to speak, she is now useless to the villian and now tied with Bond makes her a traitor to him and marked for death.  It is one of the moments in a Bond movie where Bond while in bed with Solitaire as she tells the story of how her power is now gone because of Bond-Bond looks ashamed of himself.  He gets better.  The moment is also diminshed when Solitiare in a coy way asks for another, shall we say go around.

Solitaire does get points of course.  One is that a bit of duality to her character.  When she is with Bond, she is dressed very ordinarily and while with the villian, she is dressed in very elaborate and sexy dresses.  Second is that her character is improved upon from the book where Solitaire was named for playing the game of the same name, she was simply a psychic.  Making her get her powers from Tarot is a nice touch.  There are no other Bond girls who get this kind of gift and it does make Solitaire unique.  Third and if it needed to be said, shes JANE SEYMOUR, a sexy and talented actress.  Maybe not the most in either case but here she did pull her weight and look the part.

Solitaire is certainly one of the only Bond girls I can think of who is a damsel in distress that I like more then the tougher and more independent women in Bond movies.  I know why people don't like her but I foresaw all that is said about her and drew the lampshade card to hang on it all.

Loved solitaire, she was a great foil for Roger Moore.

Jane Seymour was rarely as beautiful and playing a very colorful character with her Tarot and Obi-ah background. Pretty weak damsel in distress but not all the Bond girls had to be tough, only the great ones. Shes the exception.
