If I had to choose which game was really a return to form for the blue blur, then I would more than likely lean towards Sonic Colors. However, Sonic Generations is a step in the right direction. Despite the control issues that can lead to some cheap deaths, this is a difficult game for me not to come back to because the multiple challenge stages have something to offer.
