Lets face it, consumers are not rational beings. We are emotional and subjective.
I bought the Sony Xperia Z for 3 main reasons... It is a Sony, it is purple and it is bigger than the iPhone 5. While I read about professional reviews for each smartphone I bought in the past, it is the last phone I bought 1st quarter of 2013. Not to say I won't buy another iPhone, Android or Blackberry.
I have my love stories with gadgets and this is one such story. For those of you looking for the specs and comparison against other smartphones, please visit sites like Engadget or Tech Crunch for the professional review. This is a subjective review and one which is mostly based on what Xperia Z evokes from a user.
I fell in love with Xperia Z not because of the reasons I bought it. In fact, its physical appearance is not on par with that of the iPhone 5 nor the iPad mini. It is because of what had always made Sony such a great brand in the past that reminded me of its greatness. Xperia Z encompasses all that.
Let me take you the reader back to the past. In the 70s and 80s we had the Walkman. Remember a time when we were all enthralled with our Walkman? Remember that feeling? That grateful "ness"?! Remember how we Sony fans were fascinated by the beautiful laptop or desktop screen we got on Sony machines? How we were motivated to take more photos because they were so appealing on Sony LCD panels? I always opted for Sony products because of that superiority in the past. For many recent years, Sony seemed to have lost that magical touch! Even in its laptop. Finally, it is now back in my palm!!!
Not to mention an album app which gather pictures from social media platforms and allow me to go through thousands of my Facebook photos without having to click on them individually! I am viewing my photos like they are all on my phone's albums! How can anyone best that?!
Yes, I am grateful for all that I had been given when I hold this smartphone in my hands. It is such a beauty it makes me tear up. It has given me a chance to recapture the beauty of the last 2 decades or so! For that, nothing can beat it!
Yes, may be I am getting old... Memories are flowing back but boy are those some of the most beautiful memories of my life! Kudos to the Japanese for evoking such great feelings through their inventions!!! And, kudos to Sony for having made life such a pleasurable journey and all the wonderful moments it had helped us record!
What can I say? It comes in purple so that renders it a must have! ;-) Sony claims that it's water resistant & dust resistant. Well, I'm not about to take it into the rain since I'm not waterproof nor am I going to text when I go swimming. Still, I guess it's nice to have durability for those who need to travel outdoor a great deal or if you go hiking up the mountains often! What I love about it is it's 5" size which I now believe to be optimal for a … more
