Cycling together with SportyPal

Last weekend I did my 40th workout and I beat my first 500km with SportyPal.

I always wanted to have an application like this where I can see my mileage and time when riding my bike. Now when I don’t have that much of a free time, whenever I’m able to take on some near hill with my bicycle I take my phone with me as usual and keep track of my ride as well. Which is very cool, because after coming home I can always know where I have been, how much I have cycled, see on which parts of the route I was slacking…

So, I downloaded Sportypal to my HTC Touch 2, and start recording my cycling trips, in the winter I even used to track my skiing when I went to my winter holiday.

The most exciting feature that I found, is the community page on their site.

www.sportypal.com/community is where every sportypal user is able to share their workouts online, with nice map view, statistics etc.

Even start their own group of community and share their workouts in it. Great for teams, runners…

Another very smart attribute is that no matter what type of phone you own, you can see everybody else’s workouts and tracks. So you can find people that are cycling near you, compete with them, comparing your time against them... even become friends with them, and then start jogging, cycling together, especially on finding buddies for long distances.

Like these two workouts that I spot from Norway, they are on the same track from two different users, probably close friends cycling together. Even they have used different type of mobile phones, one with android OS, the other one with WinMo, they can still share and compare their results.

Here is the place where I want to highlight the multiplatform functionality. Which is very beneficial with today’s expansion of the mobile phone technology. There are a lot of new phones hitting the stores every new day. And is great advantage to gain more users worldwide.

Thanks for joining my community and sharing this review, Milan!  I read about this app in @dalydose's review of it.  He reviewed the running aspect of it though, so it's nice to hear about your cycling experience!  I really have to check this out now :D  By the way, you mentioned that you downloaded this on your HTC, maybe you should check out the WinMo community!

Running with my SportyPal
“I am NOT an 18-year-old Marine in bootcamp anymore.”   I was reminded of that today by a phone app.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------      Today was the second day of my new running program.  I hope I have better luck than I did with my BIKING program!  Let’s see if we can get this running thing going.  I hafta say that day #2 was WAY harder than day #1.  …
