Very interesting product indeed apart from other sweeteners: It tastes a bit bitter if you taste it by itself, BUT if you put it in your tea, coffee or cooking and you won't notice a difference between this and table sugar. Is this product safe? That's a good question. I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one in real life, so I cannot give you a clear answer to that. However, what I can tell you is that just like Sweet 'n Low and Splenda, everyone was hyped up about those products until somebody found side effects in them. I'm sure right now somewhere in a science lab, a mad scientist is testing Stevia from head to toe to find the potential harmful effects from it. However, for the time being, I am enjoying Stevia and haven't gone back to table sugar for some time now.
I am always trying new products and had tried the Truvia brand of stevia crystals. I have even grown my own stevia plants in my extensive herb gardens here at Marigold Gardens and I must say that Sun Crystals are a better alternative for my family and me. The mix of real sugar cane and stevia is just right for iced tea, hot tea, coffee and the like. The price is right too! Highly Recommended!
I'm not overwhelmed. Yes, it sweetens food okay enough; although not without a smidge of aftertaste for me. But Sun Crystals fall into the trap of trying to be too much like sugar, without obviously being sugar. Basically, it's twice as sweet as sugar, so you use half as much. Ya think? Think again. All sorts of sweet-tooth psychology factors start working on you and before you know it, you're not really saving calories, you're just enjoying a drink … more
Let's admit first that this stuff doesn't actually taste like sugar. It has a bitter, artificial taste. So do artificial sweeteners, and plenty of people use those. If you don't object to the taste of diet sodas, for example, Sun Crystals could be a more wholesome, or at least a more natural alternative for sweetening your coffee. You can also bake with them, something which isn't true of most artificial sweeteners. Sun Crystals recycles and donates … more
I've always believed that if you like one type of artificial sweetener, you probably don't like the others. It thinks it's the way we're wired. I loved Equal and hated Sweent N Low. After using Splenda, I no longer care for Equal. I thought this may be my Splenda replacement. I was so wrong. I tried this product in tea and it made it undrinkable. I had to throw it out and make a new cup. I hate the taste of it as much as I hate saccharine. I am afraid to use it for baking. … more
I had never used a product that contained stevia before so I was totally unfamiliar with it. According to the package this mixture of pure sugar cane and stevia is twice as sweet and plain sugar and that seems to be pretty accurate. Sun Crystals also has half the calories of plain sugar. I have used Sun Crystals in plain coffee and various other drinks like mocha's and frappes and it tasted normal with about half of the amount I would normally use with sugar. I have also used it to make Kool-Aid … more
Our new granulated blend lets you cook and bake like you do with sugar, giving you the moistness, tenderness and browning you want, but with only half the calories. Simply substitute 1/2 cup of SUN CRYSTALS Granulated Blend for 1 cup of sugar. It’s that easy.
