If you are getting tired of working on your sink drain with a tool that is to small such as a pair of channel locks. This is surprising cheap, you can find this at Lowe's for only $8.00. For years, I have been using other tools, even a straight slot screwdriver to tighten this retaining nut. In most cases the strainer that is held in place by this retaining nut, will move around when you start to beat on it. When this happens the strainer will be off center and you will have to loosen  the retainer and readjust the strainer to keep it center. When using this wrench it will help so that you will tighten down at a more even amount of pressure.

Description
This wrench is just a little under 9" long and 3/16" thick, and also only weighs 8.4 ounces. In the center of this wrench is a 3/8" hole that will accept a ratchet just in case you get a stubborn retaining or nut that you are trying to loosen.

On one end of this wrench, is curved to fit around a industry size standard sink retaining nut. The other end will accept kitchen, bath, laundry tubs, and the nuts (three different size nuts) on the outer edge of strainers of the sinks and plumbing.

In the center of the wrench is a notch that will fit around the little wings that protrude out of the sides of the plastic nuts. All you need to do with this wrench is apply a little bit of pressure to get them to tighten up.

Experience
All of my adult life I have been using a pair of channel locks, pipe wrench, or even a standard screwdriver on the retaining nut and plastic nuts that hold all of my plumbing in place. Sometimes this can be hard to carry around, but now I carry around this wrench and it will do the same thing as all of the other jobs. The only problem with using a hammer and screwdriver, is that when you hit the retaining ring you sometimes will make the strainer slide out of the center. When you look at this from the top it looks like it is off center and there is a possibly leak when hot water sits in the sink.

By using this wrench you will be able to apply a slow and even pressure and an even pull down of the strainer and the ring. When this happens the strainer and ring will be closed together, so that you get a proper seal and there is no room for any misalignment. Once you start pulling down on the wrench, there will be times that the wrench could slip off of the retaining ring, so if you take your time and try and not get too rough with it you should have an even seal when you are done.

This wrench  is very durable and is  made of a heat treated carbon steel. This can take a beating and can withstand being dropped from high places. But, look out below it will hurt if this hits you in the head.

Conclusion
I highly recommend purchasing one of these. Even though you may not use this that often it will come in handy for all of the under the sink jobs that you encounter. No more slipping off of those retaining nuts and no more over tightening of those plastic winged nits on your plumbing.
