My creds I am not a professional golfer, scratch that I'm not even a good golfer. I do have a real golf swing and can use most of the clubs in my bag for there intended purpose. I had been using golf clubs from 8th grade(I'm 31) until last week.
Purchase process My purchase of irons was based 1)Brand name and 2)How they look. I did swing the clubs at the shop and they felt good. I also tested out the Nike 4d's and Calloway 20/22's. I choose the r7's because they felt solid in my hand and made a nice sound when I hit them. I had been looking at clubs all summer and was waiting for end of the season sales. It became clear that the prices were not going to go any lower($399) for the set. I bought them at the Eden Prairie,MN sports authority. They received my business because they are the closest store to my house and are open past 8pm. The set has 4,5,6,7,8,9, P and A clubs.
My first experience I went to the local driving range / exec par 3 course on Saturday morning and spent an hour hitting balls at the range. I hit the 6-9 better than my old clubs, straighter with a repeatable left to right movement. I seemed to get a lot more spin on my balls and was actually drawing the ball back on the range and on the course. The 4 and 5 irons I need to spend more time with. The P wedge used to be my best club, the new wedge is heavier and I can't hit the 15-30 chip as well as I used to. The A wedge I assume this is for sand, but i really don't know and haven't hit anything yet.
Overall I give the clubs a +3, they feel and look good and with under 100 swings under my belt have improved my game, or at least my perception.
