Blink and you won't miss it cause it wasn't on screen anyway.

I don't know if it's cause I've seen too many genre movies or if I really try and look for too much meaning, symbolism or thought in a movie but I honestly don't think I over analyzed The Counselor.

A lot goes on in The Counselor, well we SEE a little go on but hear that a lot happens and we end up seeing more of the consequences of the actions that all happened when we weren't looking.

Michael Fassbender plays one of those guys who everyone calls barkeep-he plays "The Counselor" who is a lawyer working With Javier Bardem's Reiner-a business man looking to open nightclubs with drug money coming in from Mexico.  Fassbender's character is on the verge of getting married and works with other clients to solve they're issues.  Other people come into the picture to uppdate him on the business going on and one day everything goes south and The Counselor is told in no short order that he's finished:  Accept it and it and get ready for it.

That news doesn't sit well and in one scene, the movie telegraphs it's ending a mile away when an old client of Fassbender's confronts him at a polo game.  It's too bad that another scene later in the movie-during a breakdown over the phone turns out to be a red herring.

I really wanted more out of The Counselor.  Not long winded talk with dumb analogys that would have probably sunk in better had the film given us more a look at the actions going on, rather then just reporting on them.   The movie looks great and is acted great but you have to tread through some thick scenes of talking to enjoy that pretty scenery and great actors.

Crime/morality play about the choices a lawyer will make and what happens when your world comes crashing down. Slow, little events and even the dialogue comes off stilted as you wait for something else to happen.
