I must say I thoroughly enjoyed Peter Gasston's latest book "The Modern Web, Multi-Device Web Development with HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript". Without a doubt it has exceeded my expectations. After reading his other book "The Book of CSS3", I was counting on this one to be at least, in the same style and manner as his previous. My primary hope for this book on seeing it's title was that it would bring me current with the technologies that would enable me to effectively develop for the wide range of unstandardized devices we are seeing today. Now a days, I find it very tough, with my current work load, to keep track of all the best practices, important changes and emerging technologies as they happen. I just do not have to time to sift through all the blogs and reference materials, along with determining which is the "good stuff" and which is not. I consider Peter's writings to be thorough and an authority I can trust. I wanted information relevant to developing for our internet's current state -- something to bring me up to speed with all the important technologies I should be concerned with, quick detailed primers on how it applies, and most importantly, where to find more information on them if I am interested. That's what I needed right now and this book delivered.
