Well-crafted, top notch thriller

The Third Secret by Tara Taylor Quinn is Book three in Ms. Quinn's Chapman Files, but the first of the series that I've read. That said, this is a stand-alone book that doesn't require previous knowledge of the characters to understand the story.

The focus is not on Kelly Chapman, a psychologist and expert witness, though she appears in the book, but on Michigan attorney Erin Morgan and her client Rick Thomas who is accused of a trumped-up murder charge. Even though Erin has made a promise to herself not to protect the bad guys, and while Rick's background seems a bit shady, Erin is convinced he is not a killer–at least not a killer of the man he is suspected of murdering. But Rick has secrets, and he can't share them. Not even with the person trying to defend him. Until the net closes in and both Erin and Rick are in danger.

Ms. Quinn's novel has more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride, and all of them will keep the reader turning pages. Clean, crisp writing is a hallmark of Quinn's. Add to this a dynamic plot, several engaging characters, not to mention a hero and heroine you want to cheer on until they achieve their happy ending, and you have a story guaranteed to keep you reading long past bedtime. I was mesmerized by the story and Ms. Quinn's suspenseful pacing in this not-to-be-missed book. The ending will surprise you, and the story will have you wanting more. Fortunately, Book Four comes out soon. Move over James Patterson and Lee Child.

Brava Ms.Quinn.
