I can go biking with my son!

My wife and I always enjoyed a Sunday afternoon bike ride through our neighborhood, but after we had the baby, we pretty much stopped this routine, until we saw this gizmo at our local sporting good store.

It took me about 40 minutes to install the rack to the bicycle.  Once it installed, the baby carrier part can be mounted and un-mounted to the rack pretty easily.  This bicycle seat is fairly comfortable to bring the baby from point A to point B.  My wife and I took our son to the park several times with this new bike seat and my son really enjoyed riding with us, sometimes refusing to go home!  One point of note, this is not for you extreme bike riders out there, more for casual riding (on pavement) with the little one.

Pros:
  1. Fairly easy to install, and seems pretty sturdy.
  2. it has plenty of padding and shock absorber to make sure the baby is comfortable.
  3. You can mount/unmount the baby seat with ease.
A few complaints I have with the seat:
  1. When you are not on the bike, it's difficult to balance the bike with the little one still in the seat.
  2. The attachment claimed to be universal, but it only fits on 1 of our 2 bikes, you'll need a mount point below the bike seat, and another mount point near the rear wheel.
  3. It's a little pricey at around $120.

I've always seen people biking with their kids in one of these, and I always had thought that it must be pretty dangerous. But your review cleared that up. In fact, I think it's great to take tots along for bike rides at a young age so they learn to accept biking as a viable alternative form of transit when they get older.

My son just had a baby and I'll have to let him know about this bike seat for the baby. When my son was small they had very little to choose from so it's really cool to see all this new baby stuff they have now!
