UFC 153

This was an event that was held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil by the UFC that had all kinds of problems before hand. Like Brazil's own Vitor Belfort who pulled out of his fight with Alan Belcher to go on to fight Jon Jones. Also Rampage was at one point before an injury going to face Glover Teixeira at this event, which would happen later. Also along with Gonzaga's fight being pulled the original main event was cancelled after Jose Aldo pulled out with an injury. So another Brazilian would step in to save the event, Anderson Silva. In the other corner the always tough and never been finished Stephen Bonnar

1.DEMIAN MAIA VS RICK STORY-this fight ended quick and in the first round. Maia wanted to make a statement at Welterweight and he did indeed. He gets the takedown and takes Story's back. From there he goes palm to palm and cranks his opponent's neck so bad blood shoots out. Maia gets the submission victory.

2.PHIL DAVIS VS WAGNER PRADO-Davis easily takes the first round in this rematch as he dominates on the ground after multiple takedowns. The second round is spent mostly on the feet but when it goes down Davis reigns supreme once again. After a failed arm triangle attempt he goes right into an anaconda choke and gets the win.

3.JON FITCH VS ERICK SILVA-good first round as Fitch basically controls most of the round taking Silva down multiple times and threatening from the back. The second round sees Silva almost end the fight with a deep rear naked choke but Fitch escapes. From there Fitch looks good going for his own choke and an armbar. The final round is all Fitch as he dominates the round and ends it pounding on Silva and going for a front choke, Fitch gets the UD.

4.GLOVER TEIXEIRA VS FABIO MALDONADO-this first round is basically all Glover as he demolishes Fabio for most of the round pounding him out. But towards the end even on wobbly legs rocks Glover once he gets back up. That was an excellent first round that showcased Glover's skill and Fabio's heart. The second round is all Glover as he once again dominates the round. But Fabio shows his heart once again and keeps fighting. After the round ends the doctor stops the fight but Fabio would have kept fighting until the end. Glover gets the win by doctor stoppage.

5.ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA VS DAVE HERMAN-this was the fight that I was most looking forward to. Love Big Nog and Dave was talking crap about jiu-jitsu so I knew this was going to be great. These two give us a good first round with Noh walking him down and looking to land those big strikes. Herman gets a takedown but it doesn't last but lands some good body kicks. The next round sees Nog drop Dave early and ends up going for an armbar but Dave escapes. They battle it out a little while longer until Nog gets him back down and keeps going after the armbar and gets it. Big Nog gets the win and I was so happy.

6.ANDERSON SILVA VS STEPHAN BONNAR-next up is the main event as both of these men stepped in to save the event. I had a feeling this was going to be something to remember and I was very right. The fight starts fast as Bonnar rushes Anderson and gets him against the cage. They battle in the clinch for most of the round with Bonnar controlling most of that. Until they break and Anderson goes right back to the cage allowing Bonnar to strike, but Silva moves out of the way for most of it. But when Anderson decides to attack the fight is over as he lands a huge knee to Bonnar's body, and that is a rap.

1.CRISTIANO MARCELLO VS REZA MADADI-good first round between the two with a feeling out process at first before a few good shots were landed and some clinch work was attempted, Madadi gets a takedown towards the end. The second round is great with both guys fighting hard. Some good shots were landed by both guys and Madadi gets another takedown. This was a close fight going into the third so both guys needed to get to work. This like the second was a good round with some good strikes landing and another Madadi takedown. This would go to the judges who gave it to Marcello by split.

2.LUIZ CANE VS CHRIS CAMOZZI-the first round between these two was great as we got to see some big shots land to the head and body of each. But it was Cane's near win here that was the most exciting as he took Camozzi's back and almost choked and cranked him for the win. The second round was mainly Camozzi as he landed more and walked Cane down at times. The third is a little more even and gets really good towards the end of the fight. In the end Camozzi takes the UD, I was rooting for Cane.

3.SERGIO MORAES VS RENEE FORTE-the first round between these two fighters' turns into a grappling match as each guy clinches and gets takedowns. Not much happens on the feet that lands but still a good round. The next round is another grappling round at least for high spots, but towards the end Forte lands some good shots like a nice uppercut. In the third round all that grappling for Moraes pays off after he takes Forte's back. It takes a little bit but after riding his back he gets the choke, which is more of a neck crank.

4.DIEGO BRANDAO VS JOEY GAMBINO-good first round here for Diego right from the beginning as he lands a head kick. But Gambino stays in there and makes it a fight but it was a round for the Brazilian. In the second round Diego would start fast again dropping Joey with a nice right. He would then get on top until Joey threatens with an armbar. In the third round Diego drops him again but starts to show off to much in my opinion towards the end, he gets the UD.

5.GLEISON TIBAU VS FRANCISCO TRINALDO-great first round between these two with both landing some big shots but it is Tibau that takes it in my opinion with the takedowns and combinations. The second round starts out well for both guys but Trinaldo lands a big shot that drops Tibau. This leads to near submission wins from Trinaldo from a rear naked choke and an arm triangle. He stays on top after losing both positions and takes the round. The third round goes to Tibau as he gets the takedown and stays on top, even going for his own arm triangle. Before all that though these guys were swinging for the fences trying to knock each other out.. Tibau takes the UD.

6.RONY JASON VS SAM SICILIA-great opening round here as both guys come to fight. Jason even rocks Sam and almost ends the fight. The second round is even better as these two just go for it until it ends. Both guys come out swinging but it is Jason that ends Sam's night after catching a kick and landing. On the ground he pounds him out for the TKO win.

This was a really good event with some great fights and cool stoppages. Also the DVD comes with the weigh-ins and the countdown show as special features.
