Eh, I've got mixed feelings about this one!

Verizon is a very good cell phone provider. But I just can't give 'em a higher rating because they barely get reception in my area despite being the most expensive major carrier.

I admit, I live at a high elevation, but it's not like I'm out in the middle of nowhere! If you drive just a mile downhill, boom! Perfect reception. I think their customer service is pretty good, but they're just such a strange company. Some days, I won't get any text messages except those from contacts who also have Verizon. Other days, all my calls go straight to voice mail, except those who called say the phone rang 4 times on their end. (Try explaining that last one to your boss!)

My other friends seem to be satisfied, and now that they've got the Blackberry Storm, hopefully the company will be pushed to improve its service in the areas that need help. But honestly, I was happier when we had T-Mobile. While we didn't have reception at our house with them, either, we at least paid less and did manage to get some cool phones with our contract.

I'll stick with Verizon until our contract is up for renewal, and then I'll consider switching back to T-Mobile. If you live in an area that's high in elevation, I strongly recommend consulting a website that shows good/bad cell phone reception in your area as provided by users before signing up with Verizon (cell phone company sites always lie!). If you do live in a more urban area, however, I'm sure you'll have no problems with the company.

For only a mere .75 cents a day, you can have unlimited text capabilities & free nights after 9pm. Also, free weekends. Can't beat that.

Obviously rating a cell phone provider is based on one's subjective opionion, and personal experiences with the provider.  Not everyone's is the same.      For me, I can only find one thing I could complain about with Verizon, and it's their price plans.  They're a little more expensive than the plans from the other big cell phone companies -- AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.  However, this is a minor grievance when I take into consideration that I never get …

Wiki

Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, owns and operates the second largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, based on a total of 70.8 million U.S. subscribers,[1] behind AT&T Mobility's 72.9 million subscribers.[2] Verizon Wireless has the highest revenue of all wireless companies based within the United States, with an annual revenue of $43.9 billion. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, the company is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group, with 55 and 45 percent ownership respectively.[3] They claim their wireless network covers geographic regions that contain a population of 260 million people within the United States.[4]

On June 5, 2008, Verizon Wireless announced their intention to acquire rural provider Alltel Wireless in a deal valued at $28.1 Billion. With this merger, Verizon Wireless states that it will have approximately 85.2 million wireless subscribers and will cover a geographical region that contains approximately 290 million people.[5][6] The merger received its final approval from the FCC on 2008-11-04. Once the merger is complete, Verizon Wireless will be the largest carrier in the United States
