Be sure to back up your files before installing!

It's hard to accurately rate something like this. I've had it installed on my computer for several, and thus far my computer hasn't been attacked by a virus, although so far I can't really tell if it's any more superior (or inferior) to McAfee or Norton - both of which I've used - so to be fair, I'll give it a neutral 3 star rating, detailing what I like and don't like.

A negative affect - I installed this on both mine and my husband's laptops (a positive is that you can use it for several computers with the one license). There were no problems with mine, but for some reason, after installing this, my husband's itunes library was wiped out, so he had to restore it, and lost a few weeks of purchases and podcasts. This is sort of my fault - as I broke the cardinal rule, which is to back up your harddrive before making any changes. However, it shouldn't have affected these files, so it was disappointing (not to mention it got me in trouble with my husband!).

On the positive side - I love the informative demo that installs after it installs, telling you about the features and how to set the defaults. I also like the home page screen that gives the results of the most recent scan, as well as giving a general update about the general threat-level of internet security.

It touts itself to be faster than McAfee, and while I haven't experienced a noticeable difference, one of my issues with McAfee was that it did noticeably slow-down my computer processing ability when scanning or downloading updates. I have surfed while updating, and it does work without a noticeable slow-down.

It also contains Mal-Ware and a Secure-File Eraser, which are not things that McAfee had (or if they did, it wasn't obvious by using my general McAfee information screen).

So--overall, I'm pleased with this , and give it 3.5 stars. On the neutral side - it did not uncover any threats with the first scan that McAfee hadn't caught, but assuming it does continue to protect my computer, with what I've seen so far, I would choose to renew my subscription at the end of the year.

Although I had never heard of the product, I was looking forward to running it because I have been getting tired of my McAfee not allowing me to mark certain files as safe. I was happy to see that VIPRE gives me the option to mark a file as safe and not have it deleted with every scan. The Home License version is great for families that have more than one computer, which I imagine is most people. So, be sure if you are comparing products that you keep that in mind in regards to the pricing differences. …

I had a lot of problems installing this software into my computer. My computer froze once, then the second time I tried it didn't install correctly. I was never able to actually install this product.     What I can say about this product is that I do like that you can install it in however many computers you want.

This is a very good software plus the user interface of VIPRE is very straightforward. The options to configure the program's features are easy to find. Users need not to dig on how they can configure VIPRE antivirus + antispyware. VIPRE's system tray icon includes handy menu, to enable or disable the protection, to update the program without the need to launch VIPRE, to shutdown VIPRE, to run a quick or deep scan, to pause, resume or abort a scan and to launch the program.    Unlike …

Usually I'm weary of installing such items on my laptops but this anit-virus program didn't slow down any of them and that¡¦s great in my book. Also it was great at picking up items that even Norton missed, I haven't heard of Vipre before Amazon introduced it but I¡¦m very thankful that hey have. It works fast and is efficient and I can install on multiple computers and even my mom who isn't a wiz in any sense can use it, she's the master of breaking computers but so far it has helped, she used …

I don't usually buy anti-virus software. If I use anything, I'll put a free version of something on my computer, but I find the best way to stay spyware and virus-free is simply to understand what I'm doing when I'm doing it. In other words, I practice safe computing.       That said, if something can help me along through my occasional lapses in judgment I'm all for it (oh, and I have kids too....so there's that). I'm all for it, that is, as long as I know what it's doing, what …

I admit to being skeptical about the claims made for Vipre Antivirus + AntiSpyware not hogging resources or slowing down my pc, but no more!    I had recently purchased a two-year subscription to Norton 360 and found my computer running slower and slower with each passing week. Finally I had to do something about it. I installed Vipre. My system improved so much that I installed it on my second pc as well. No more memory hogging Norton for me.    Okay, what's …

I've tried a variety of anti-virus programs throughout the years, from avast to kaspersky to NOD32, etc, etc. This has to be the worst anti-virus/anti-spyware program I have ever encountered. During the installation process it regularly froze and then screwed around with other programs freezing my computer and forcing me to restart several times. When I tried to update the virus definitions it just froze and did nothing. When I wanted to run a scan, it froze, inhibited other programs from running, …

I have been running Vipre Antivirus for just over a week. I cannot therefore speak to its ability to stop viruses, but assuming that the positive results from the antivirus testing companies are true, I can vouch for the quality of this product.     The first thing I love is that I was able to install it on all of my household computers. It is nice to be able to, with a single purchase, install the software on all the different computers in our household. Since some of them are …
