Volterra, Italy is a great place to visit

Perched high above the rolling hills of Tuscany, Volterra is a quaint town to visit. The drive up to the town is beautiful with plenty of twists and turns to give you multiple views of the hills and vineyards of Tuscany. Volterra is best known for alabaster and there are many shops with every type of jewelry, candleholder, plate or any other item made of alabaster. Most shopkeepers are more than happy to explain the beautiful pieces and how they came into existence. As you walk around the town the views of etruscan ruins within the hillside are breathtaking, not to mention the views of the valley below. Although the town is small and the main sights can be seen in a relatively short period of time, it is best to take your time and take in the sights, smells and character of this bustling little town.

And for those of you Twilight series fans, Volterra is the infamous home of the Volturi.
