Ah yes the Wrestlemania that followed the biggest Rumble ever, it should be just as big right? Lets see, The Rock was hosting the show, we know at least it will be entertaining. There will be guaranteed heat between him and Cena and there were some interesting storylines going into this. Of course that did not stop The Rock from talking at the beginning of the show; I knew he would come out and do that. I knew he had to make an introduction for the night but man did it take up some time, enough that one match was not put on the televised card.

1.[WORLD TITLE]EDGE VS ALBERTO DEL RIO-in what would be Edge's last match Edge takes it to the new comer but Del Rio has a destiny. We start off the event with a really good match between the two although it felt a little too short. Still the action was quick and well paced with both laying into each other. After a few near finishes Edge finally hits the spear and keeps the title, but it is what happens after. After the match Edge and Christian destroy Del Rio's car as I am sure you know was very expensive. Now like many have said it made no sense for this to be the opening contest. The Royal Rumble winner Main Events Mania usually but come on opening match, and after Del Rio won a 40 man Rumble.

2.REY MYSTERIO VS CODY RHODES-in this match Cody brought it to Rey for most of the match. The story here is Rey ruined his face so he wanted some revenge, for most of the match he gets it. Rey has his moments throughout the match especially after he gets Cody's mask off. This match was much better than most people around me were expecting it to be. Still Cody nails Rey with his own knee brace and gets the pin fall.

3.BIG SHOW, KANE, KOFI KINGSTON, SANTINO MARELLA VS THE CORRE-I was really looking forward to this match because I love The Corre. Unfortunately this match was not that long which goes to show you what WWE thinks of tag matches. I remember back in the good old days when tag matches could be classics, even steal the show. Still for what it is it is very entertaining, unfortunately the Corre losses this one.

4.CM PUNK VS RANDY ORTON-another match I was looking forward to because I am a huge CM Punk fan and was waiting to see him defeat Orton. Thankfully this match got some time so they were able to go out and put on great performances. Punk looked like he was on his way to victory until Randy nailed an RKO on Punk as he jump off the top turnbuckle. I still feel that Punk should have won this match, yes I am a fan but it felt right for the storyline to me.

5.JERRY LAWLER VS MICHAEL COLE-now we all know the story here so there is no need to go into it, but I should say Booker T and Jim Ross were on commentary for this with Josh Matthews. Also Stone Cold Steve Austin was the special referee for this match and Jack Swagger was in Cole's corner, so I knew it would be fun if nothing else. This match was pure fun and that is all it was meant to be, other than a little at the beginning Jerry dominates this match. The way they [Jerry, Austin] torture Cole with the ankle lock is hilarious and seeing Austin hit Swagger, Booker T, and Josh with the Stunner was great. Of course Josh got one after he read an e-mail for the GM saying Lawler was DQ'd and Cole was the winner.

6.UNDERTAKER VS TRIPLE H-this is a wonderful match right here and the best of the night most likely, well at least to some. This match has everything you could want in a match including the drama. They really tried to out do Taker's matches with HBK from the previous years and it was a valiant effort. Still nothing can top those matches and dare I say maybe their previous Mania match was better. That of course depends on your style and what you like. The action is non stop with all kinds of high spots but in the end Taker keeps the streak, but he isn't the man that walks out.

7.[6 MIXED TAG]TRISH STRATUS, NICOLE POLIZZI, JOHN MORRISON VS LAYCOOL, DOLPH ZIGGLER-this match was cool enough because Trish came back but the highlight of course is Nicole pulling off a nice move. Quick match that is like the rest, fun, I guess.

8.[WWE TITLE]THE MIZ VS JOHN CENA-another match I was looking forward to because I like both of these guys. I can't help it but I love The Miz, he is way too funny, I crack up all the time. The entrances were cool and the match was good as well, the best thing is I called it to a T. we all know Miz won but that ending was exactly what I thought was going to happen. I am sure any one who is reading this by now knows what happened but I called it exactly how it went.

Now this was a pre Mania match and is special features on the discs.

9.[US TITLE]LUMBERJACK MATCH-SHEAMUS VS DANIEL BRYAN-I was very excited to hear Matt Striker on commentary here because for some reason I like that guy. As I thought this ended up being a good match for as long as it lasted, which wasn't very long. The action is back and forth for the most but every one quickly starts brawling and it turns into a battle royal. Honestly I love battle royals but I would have loved to see a real finish for the US title match. Still the battle royal was fun as they always are with Khali coming out on top.

Over all this was not the best Mania ever but I am still not sure where I would rank it amongst the others. Still a good Blu-ray to own if you are a collector like myself. The special features include a look at Edge and Del Rio's history as well as the full Hall of Fame Ceremony which of course includes HBK. Also you basically get an entire RAW.

Excellent review, Alex! Do they still sell this one on DVD? My brother would love it, but my parents don't own a Blu Ray player. I saw one of the images you included looks like a DVD copy, so it's probably safe to assume it's out there-- hopefully for an affordable price. He has a birthday coming up, so I might do some research on wrestling themed gifts.

Over all this event was ok and had some good moments but it is not the best Mania ever. Rock was host and that ended up being both good and bad, but over I say pick it up.
