A Quick Tip by Madpenguin

There are only two types of people who would prefer World Heroes over Street Fighter II; 1) Those who went over to the arcades and just wanted to be different. 2) Those with bad taste in fighting games. Of all the SF clones out there, this is the only one that truly aped it with no shame at all and didnt do a good job at it either.

Some of the reason lies in the sluggish controls. The first two games can be a chore to get out moves, plus the AI is ultra cheap which would end up being considered as some type of twisted charm found in SNK fighting games.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone other than diehard fighting game fans. It feels too dated, controls are poor to average, and AI is very cheap which means most of your fun will be in 2 player mode. If you want an old school fighting game collection other than Street Fighter, then I recommend Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 2 or even Samurai Shodown Anthology.

Dude, I just noticed your comment did disappear. I been getting that feeling lately like my comments have been vanishing too, and not only that, there's reviews I know I rated and I found myself going back to rate them again.

this came out when fighting games were a dime a dozen right? Hey, what was the game with dinosaurs with MK-like special moves?

They were a dime a dozen around this time with several coming from this very same company. And that game was Primal Rage, I never got into it.

A scientist by the name of Dr. Brown uses his time machine to gather up 8 fighters, and holds a tournament with the purpose of crowning one of them as the greatest fighter of all time.-summary      The story is no doubt just as lame as most of the games. For those who may not remember, and don't feel bad if you don't. World Heroes was another arcade style fighter by ADK for Neo Geo, that was meant to overthrow Street Fighter II in the arcades as the king of fighters back …

About this topic

Wiki

World Heroes (ワールドヒーローズ?) is a series of fighting games created by ADK originally created for the Neo Geo MVS arcade cabinets with the assistance of SNK, though some of the games in the series were also ported to the Neo Geo AES and Neo-Geo CD platforms, as well as some non-SNK platforms such as the Super NES and the Sega Saturn.
While it was created during the years when Street Fighter II was at its peak in popularity, many dismissed World Heroes as another generic "SF clone." Though it has some unique concepts, the controls being considered clunky and its "ripoff" reputation harmed sales. Due to this, the series was discontinued with World Heroes Perfect, although it has received a cult following mainly around Neo Geo fans.[citation needed]
The general premise is that a scientist, Dr. Brown, having perfected a time machine, organized a tournament for various fighters throughout all of history to combat each other. True to this plot, many of the fighters are based on actual historical figures.
