I love this new album from Joss Stone. My favorite track is "Landlord". I have never heard the word landlord in a love song before. Joss makes me believe that a landlord could turn into a lover on this great tune. She sounds great vocally. The guitar playing is good here too. "Karma" is a funky song with an excellent beat. Joss convinces me that a woman can be the strong dominant person in a relationship. "Somehow" is a track that puts me in a good mood, I love the tone of this song. This song is simply three minutes of pure listening pleasure. Joss slows it down a bit with the song "Drive All Night". This song is subtle, smooth and romantic. I like this song a lot. "Newborn" is a hopeful song that reminds me that every day can be full of new experiences. "Don't Start Lying To Me Now" has such a soulful vibe. The piano playing gives this song a groovy slick tone that I like. "Last One To Know" is about the emotional pain caused by being in a bad relationship. One of her strengths is her ability to craft a song out of something expected. "Boat Yard" is that type of song. I don't normally associate a boat yard as a romantic place, but her vocals convinces me that any place can be romantic. Both "Boat Yard" and "Last One To Know" are two heart wrenching tunes. "Take Good Care" is a song that proves that Joss can sing a slow song equally as well as an upbeat one. It is a song about parting with a loved one. The song on this album are fairly short in length. I suggest multiple listenings of this record to really appreciate the beauty and meaning of these songs. This music is excellent.
