As a parent of two young kids, I seem to spend a lot of my time at public parks. From going down the twisty slides to climbing the 3 foot "rock" walls, the kids and I are very active park-goers. Even though there are probably more than 20 different playground parks within fifteen minutes of our home, we always seem to end up at the same park. Why? Well, because I know what is there. I can guarantee that there will be baby swings for the little one, big-kid swings for my oldest. I also know I can bring their sand pails and they can go to town in the sand box or I can bring a basket ball and we can all attempt to shoot hoops. Yes, perhaps one of the other nearby parks might have similar attraction but there is nothing more frustrating then packing up a 2 yr old (who is very excited to go "swinging") only to find out there are none. Or that there is no bathrooms for your potty training toddler. Well, if you live in the OC you can now dare to venture!
Play Park Central is an awesome resource for OC parents looking to scope out local parks before they pack up the kids and head on over. Wow! What a concept! Oh and they have a section for Colorado Springs area parks too! Now, if they can just venture in to my neck of the woods :).
-Check out a park's play equipment before you go.
-See parks' amenities such as restrooms and parking
-check to see the park's operating hours
-Read other parent's assessment of certain parks
-Ability to request for a certain area/specific park to be reviewed
-View photos and video of the parks you are interested in
-So far, it is limited to OC and Colorado Springs
Overall, I think this is an excellent resource for parents with park-loving kiddos to entertain!
