the JaneDear girls - Did they live up to the hype?

I know a lot of people who were looking forward to the debut CD by the JaneDear girls; I myself was looking forward to getting the CD in the mail.  Unfortunately I do not believe the duo lived up to the hype!

The two were introduced to each other in Nashville when they instantly clicked.  They began writing song together until signed by Reprise Records.  John Rich signed on to produce the CD.  Both Susie and Danelle have amazing vocals, but they CD was over produced in my opinion.  There have been way to many effects put on the CD.  I like to hear real voices not what can happen after hours in the editing room!  I wonder what the duo sounds like live because I think it would be much better than what is on the CD.  There are a few songs on the CD that are just the girls and some instruments - no crazy editing. Usually singers begin strong and end strong, but I have found on this CD it is the middle 4 songs that I have found a liking to.  Here are a few:
  • "Saturday's in September" - This song focuses on what happens after that summer romance is over.  It is a slower song that has amazing harmonies between the duo.  Lonely weeks and dreaming of the loved one is what the song is all about.  The song lyrics are amazing and Susie and Danelle know how to deliver this song.  Many CDs feature that summer love song, but it is rare to find a CD with a song saying what happens when that summer romance is over.
  • "Lucky You" - Have you ever been dumped for another girl? That's what happens in this song.  This upbeat song tells the tale of a guy who breaks up with a girl only to find out that his new girlfriend isn't what he thought!  It goes on to say too bad for you, I'm not gonna get back with you!  Even with the guy on his knees, this girl isn't going back!  This song is a great song for when the guy comes crawling back!  You can just say "now you're stuck with it, You might as well forget it -
    Lucky You"
I recommend going to iTunes and listening to some samples from the CD - after all, everyone has different preferences.  You might enjoy every song on this CD.  Don't let this review discourage you from checking out the JaneDear girls!
