One great tool for weather junkies...

I wanted to write a review on Stormtrack because this website has taught me a ton about storm chasing and weather in general. I stumbled across this site about five years ago, while searching on the web for information on the topic. I looked over some of the discussions going on in the forum, and decided to sign up. I've been an active member ever since....

I didn't have any previous experience chasing storms at the time I signed up, and I was far from a meteorologist. I didn't know the difference between cumulus clouds and sirrus clouds, funnel clouds and shelf clouds...but the members of Stormtrack didn't mind. They were open to the fact that I was a "newbie", and it made me feel comfortable asking questions. I always received a quick and knowledgeable response.

Over the time I've been a member, I have been on over ten seperate chases, and have met several great people who share the same passion for storms that I do. Chasers on the site can arrange to chase together, buy and sell chasing equipment, share helpful hints, and discuss forecasts. There is even a discussion that is pretty much "real time", written as chasers are actually "in the field". Advanced warnings for severe weather are posted immediately on the site, and there are links to NOAA information and all kinds of photos from chaser's reports of successes and failures.

If you too are amazed by storms, and if you have ever thought about trying to chase, www.stormtrack.org is a must. I would never have taken the chance to chase without first learning all the safety information available on this website.

The only reason I did not rate www.stormtrack.org a five is because sometimes the members tend to clash with one another. It isn't anything major, as I still enjoy the site thoroughly, but it is something they could improve on, in my opinion.
