The best California roll variation

I love the baked bay scallop roll as much as I love the Philadelphia roll, and if you've read my review for the Philadelphia roll, you would know that that's A LOT.  I usually only like raw rolls, but I'll make an exception for the baked bay scallop roll.

The California roll's pretty blah on its own, but once it gets topped with a scallop on each piece, doused in teriyaki sauce, baked, and then topped with some salmon roe... Wait, are you drooling???  No need for more soy sauce; that teriyaki sauce has got you covered!

This may or may not be a good thing, but the baked bay scallop roll is incredibly rich and filling, to the point where it, and possibly another small, simple roll, could be a full meal.

Wow, how have I not heard about this? It sounds incredible? Do you know how and where this originated? Is it an American invention or Japanese?

Whoa Ling, I didn't notice this comment till just now! Yes, this roll is incredible, but I have no idea where it originally comes from. I've got a feeling that it's an American fusion roll. If you ever get the chance, check it out at Sushi House in Alameda, they make it the best!
