Creamy and yummy
The best Clam Chowder I've had was in Boston.       I'm very into Chinese soups but when it comes to western soups, they are a tad too creamy or rich for me, for most part. However, I got into the hang of soups when I first had a taste of the Clam Chowder in Boston (& I don't mean the canned type). I am not a fan of soup as a meal. I don't find it filling enough and I'm more of a fan of things that need to be chewed because doing so tricks my mind into feeling full. Nevertheless, clam chowder is my favorite, with or without bread, even as a meal in itself. I personally enjoy it served straight in a cup or bowl, but others also enjoy it served in a sourdough breadbowl. Clam Chowder is a chowder usually made with broth and clams and enriched with potatoes, onions, and other vegetables to taste. The New England variety, made with cream and flour, is the most popular variety. However, other versions are becoming increasingly popular, including Manhattan chowder, made with tomatoes for flavor and coloring.

The English word "chowder" is said to have originated in Newfoundland, where French-Breton fishermen threw their daily catch into a large hot pot called a chaudron (meaning "cauldron").
