I love Lebanese food because it uses traditional Arabic foods as its base but varies them with its own Mediterranean alterations. Also, it is generally agreed that Lebanese food is very healthy (in appropriate proportions, of course).    My favorite has always been their hummus, which can be served with olive oil, spices, pine nuts, and even grilled meats. About this food

Lebanese or Levant cuisine is the food from the area including and surrounding modern-day Lebanon. The cuisine is noted as one of the world's healthiest as it includes many low-processed vegetables, fruits, cereals, nuts, and legumes. The cuisine also includes many vegetarian recipes, although meat ones are common, too.

Modern Lebanese cuisine is the result of many inter-continental influences. It is a mixture of standard Arabic, French, Turkish, and Greek cuisines. After the French defeated the Ottoman Turks in World War I, France occupied modern-day Lebanon and introduced many of the country's most popular dishes during the occupation period.

Today, Lebanese food is popular in many parts of the world for its versions of hummus, falafel, kebabs, shawarma, and desserts such as baklawa.
