Breakfast in a bite? What could be better?

Most people prefer to eat a balanced breakfast with cereal, toast, juice, milk fruit, and eggs. Not me, however. Pack as much sugar and fruit flavors into one small bite and you'll have me as your first customer. That's why I love Pop Tarts!

I ate Pop Tarts nonstop throughout high school. In college, I hardly ate breakfast at all! For some reason, Pop Tarts slipped my mind and I just went straight to eating lunch, except on weekends when I had some personal time. Then a few months ago, at the grocery store, I laid eyes on their recognizable blue boxes and it was a Pop Tart renaissance! Now, I eat them every morning and rotate flavors so I never get sick of them.

My love for Pop Tarts is due to three main factors: form, flavor, and price.

Form. Pop Tarts fit into any toaster or toaster oven, are easy to hold, and don't take up much space. When they're heated, their flat shape keeps the inside warm but allows the outside to cool down enough for you to hold them without discomfort.

Flavor. Pop Tarts come in countless flavors, ranging from strawberry to s'mores. Each is delicious in its own way, but my favorites are cinnamon and strawberry.

Price. Pop Tarts are cheap, and generic versions are even cheaper. A box of eight pastries is often less than $4, making each one about 50 cents. Add a glass of 100% fruit juice and you're looking at a breakfast that could run you less than $1.

Pop Tarts are cheap, filling, and possibly the easiest breakfast item you could ever prepare, considering they're pre-baked and could be eaten straight from the packaging. Rediscover your childhood and stock up! There's nothing wrong with eating them, and like most other child breakfast foods, they're probably loaded with vitamins anyways. Now there's a good reason to step back in time and be a kid again!

About this food

Wiki

Pop-Tarts is the brand name for flat, pre-baked toaster pastries manufactured by Kellogg Company. The tarts are usually frosted, may be eaten cold or warm, and come in a variety of flavors, including strawberry, blueberry, cinnamon, cherry, and S'mores.

Pop-Tarts have gained notoriety over the decades as they have been responsible for a number of house fires. Tests have proven that if left too long in the toaster, the treats may produce flames over a foot high. As a result, Kellogg now prints appropriate warning labels on its packaging.

Pop-Tarts were first manufactured by Post under the name "Country Squares" in the early 1960s. Kellogg introduced its own version within months, and gave it the name it still has today.
