So many people wonder what kinds of foods to eat when on a specific diet. Whether you're weightlifting at the gym or your goal is to simply tone up, brown rice rocks!

When picking foods, especially in these hard economic times, healthy can get expensive - so you want the most bang for your buck. You also want the most nutrition for your calories-in.  Trader Joe's Brown Rice, which is fully cooked and comes in microwavable packets, is an answer to both of these. Though you might not gravitate to this immediately, here you get healthy, yet inexpensive, easy to prepare, yet easily coupled with other great things to eat, and filling yet not high in calories (for those watching calories-in vs. calories-out).

Brown Rice can be difficult and take long, to cook on it's own. This product makes it easy to enjoy a very healthy food. For being microwavable, the rice comes out pretty moist for brown rice.

Among it's benefits, brown rice contains fiber (great for satiety, weight control and digestion), as well as selenium and manganese, which aid in getting the most out of the protein you ingest. Add on top of that some B vitamins plus iron and you have an amazing little grain!

I like this brown rice but have you tried their frozen organic brown rice? There are 3 packets per box and you microwave it for 3 minutes. It turns out so light and fluffy and tasty! It's hard to find though. When I first bought it, I only had one box just to try it and the cashier asked me if I wanted more boxes since people fight like bears over it. And the other cashier guy said he'd could get it super fast for me but I didn't want to hold up the line. The first cashier was like, "are you sure? He's really fast!" Then he told me that the reason it's so hard to find is that the frozen organic brown rice company makes jasmine rice for 2 months then the brown rice for 2 months. So when the brown rice is available at TJ's, people buy tons of it. I went back the next day and got 6 boxes, plus 2 for my friend!

Thanks for the great review, sounds like a convenient side dish for an 'infant-screaming-all-day-no-time-to-cook' dinner. You should try these Trader Joe's Trail Mix Bars - great for a quick healthy snack at the gym! They are actually made with brown rice syrup.
