Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is one of 4 Moderate Class Resorts at the Walt Disney World Resort.  It is huge, encompassing 200 acres divided into 6 distinct villages named after Caribbean Islands - Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and Jamaica.  This resort alone has 2,112 rooms.

The resort is themed with a tropical flair as the name would imply.  The rooms are brightly colored and decorated to further enhance the tropical theme.

Caribbean Beach Resort Building

Tropical plants and lush foliage in the landscaping definitely add to the theming as you walk around the resort.
Caribbean Beach Resort Pool

The recently added Old Port Royale pool complex is a great improvement to the resort.
The sprawling pool complex is themed like an old Spanish fortress: complete with towers, antique cannons, and a waterslide.  My kids definitely enjoyed playing there.

Caribbean Beach Resort - Barefoot Bay

To give you some idea of the size of this resort, it has it's own 45 acre lake called Barefoot Bay.  In addition to having white sand beaches along its shores, there are boats for rent, as well as, fishing excursions on the lake.

The immense size of the resort is a blessing and a curse.  It is a blessing in that you really don't notice that this is a resort that has over 2,000 rooms since the buildings are spread out and the landscaping hides things well.  You feel much more secluded.

The curse comes from the distances needed to walk to the main pool and the food court, which are at Old Port Royale.  Note: You may wish to request a room in a building relatively close to this area to reduce walking.

Wonderful Moderate Resort
My family has personally stayed in all of the Disney Moderate Resorts and have enjoyed them.  Our recent stay at the Caribbean Beach was better than our initial stay about 6 years ago due to the addition of the Old Port Royale Pool area and the remodeled rooms.

The rooms themselves are 340 sqft, which is a noticeable upgrade from the Disney Value Resorts.  The fact that the mini-fridges are standard in all rooms is also very nice when you are staying in a room for several days.

The Moderate Resorts are great for families who want to spend part of the their vacation relaxing at the Resort in addition to enjoying the Disney World Theme Parks.  The larger rooms, increased theming and landscaping of the Resort Grounds, the awesome pool complex, and the fact that the resort has a large food court and a Table Service Restaurant (Shutter's), all are reasons to stay here versus a Value Resort.

The rates typically start at around $149 + tax and up depending upon the season, but Disney often has discounts for Resort Rooms or packages including Resort Rooms.

Definitely Recommended
If you decided that a Disney Moderate Resort is where you would like to stay I would not hesitate to recommend the Caribbean Beach Resort.

The Caribbean Beach Resort is one of five Moderate-type accomodations at Walt Disney World, and now you can act like Captain Jack or sleep with the fishes (metaphorically, of course) with Nemo and friends.      Caribbean Beach Sand, Water and Boats - © Disney    First a little about the Moderates. Pricing is similar across the moderate level resorts (except for the campgrounds). But the range is wide depending on the season and location. Disney has …
