Toshiba - Satellite L455-S5975 Laptop
< read all 1 reviewsI was at best buy and I saw the Toshiba satellite for 299!!! I couldn’t pass up this deal.
I went and bought that bad boy as a gift for my girl friend for our anniversary (just think if she wasn’t dating a techie, she would get real presents for our anniversary…like flowers or something)
After all when you see a deal like this you have to get it. You also have to make sure you pass up all the stupid add ons they try and sell you. Like the pointless protection plan. If your laptop doesn’t puke within the first 90 days and you treat it right, then it will live long and prosper. If it does, well you have a manufactories warranty to deal with it then.
They also have this geek squad add on ‘performance and restore’ package. Well if you know how to burn a DVD or CD save your self the cash and just burn the DVD yourself. Toshiba has a program that does it for you on the computer (that I’m sure the geeks at the squad just use)
I’ll admit this is the first time I’ve used Windows 7. It is a wee bit hard for me to know what I’m doing, but it isn’t so bad. I still prefer my Windows XP, but that is because I like a bare bones interface.
For 299 this thing is zippy!!!! Its really quick. The applications that come preinstalled (office trial) are very fast in coming up. Ahhhh I love new computers!
What do most people do on a computer.
All you need to do the above is a no frills cheap computer . I know she will spend most of her time in the browser, so I installed FireFox 3.5 and Google Chrome for her. Can you say buh bye to Internet Explorer. These programs can take up a lot of memory, But with the 2GB of memory that comes with it, she should be fine. The base computer running seems to be about 500-600MB, so that gives her about 1.5GB in memory. Folks, that is plenty for most people

Whatever it is you're getting, the right man is more important than the right gifts! Don't I sound like your mom now though, hahaha...
