A 2011 movie directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.
< read all 3 reviews After the hilarious first entry in this series, these films have gotten progressively worse. In this one Harold is now married to Maria and has lost touch with Kumar. He seems to be overly afraid of his new father-in-law and the rest of Maria's family (this seemed to be copied from Fools Rush In, another film that uses the stereotype that Latin people have big families and they are dangerous). His father-in-law has grown his own Christmas tree which he uses to replace Harold's artificial one. The family takes Maria out and leaves Harold to guard the tree.
When Kumar receives a package addressed to Harold, he decides to go see his old friend. Of course the antics of the two cause the Christmas tree to catch on fire and a deathly afraid Harold must now go get a replacement before his father-in-law gets back,
The movie just spirals out of control after that with many of the same type of gags from the first film, except instead of being twarted from getting to White Castle, they keep getting thwarted from getting a tree. Kumar accidently gets his friend's baby stoned and the baby seems to get into more drugs throughout the movie and having all the symptons of a stoner. I found these parts to be very difficult to watch and they were poor judgements by the director to include them as they added nothing to the overall plot (hey there was a plot?).
The movie seems to make you think that the two have to go to all kind of stupid scenes together (including meeting a resurrected Neil Patrick Harris and an R2D2 rippoff that makes waffles) in order to restore their friendship bond. I only saw the 2D version of this film and I think had I seen the 3D, my head would have been spinning just like the stoned baby by the end. Let's hope that a fourth installment is not in the works.
