In the 1930s, Amelia Earhart was a pioneering woman pilot. She married a man who helped promote her flights. She went missing on the last leg of a round-the-world flight in 1937.

That's all I got from the movie, which is shockingly bad and instantly forgettable. Earhart was a national figure followed by millions, yet you'd never know why from this tepid film. While Hilary Swank seems likeable as Amelia and does bear a striking resemblance to her, the script fails to make her the least bit interesting. The dialogue is tedious, the movie has no excitement or tension, and the director destroys any scenes that might have been emotionally compelling. Richard Gere has the thankless job of playing Amelia's husband and comes across as a completely dull fellow. Even the music is boring. What a colossal waste of talent.

I started to see this last night and now I'm glad I didn't. Makes you wonder how some movies ever get made.

I know. Didn't they read the script first? The director blew it at every turn.

Thanks for the warning, I appreciate the opposing viewpoint. My GF has been bugging me to see this. I like Swank, now at least I can keep my expectations really low.

Hillary Swank is always terrific, but here she's given nothing to work with.

I was very disappointed with this film.  It had a good cast (Swank and Gere) and I generally like these biopics (ex. The Aviator with Leonardo DiCapprio).  I found most of this movie incredibly boring and very little insight was presented about Amelia the person.  Yes, she has a strange relationship with her promoter/husband and an even stranger one with a married flying instructor (Ian McGregor) and we do briefly see her fascination with flying (about 30 seconds) …

A good look into the life of Amelia Earhart....
I've seen Biopic's on allot of famous and infamous  people of the 20th century, Public Enemies(John Dillinger), Aviator(Howard Hughes), Schindler's List(Oskar Schindler), Iron jawed Angel(Alice Paul). But this film, this film has to take the  cake as one of the best I've seen  yet.             Mira Nair's "Amelia" is a breathtaking  and exploitative look into the life and achievement's of one of the greatest women of the 20th …
