Basket Case 2 is a big budget sequel that takes place right after the end of part one. Duane and Belial are in a hospital recovering from falling off the Hotel Broslin sign. Poor Duane is not all there in the head and is still furious at his brother for getting him into all kinds of trouble. The two have become media sensations and they've caught the eye of a woman named Granny Ruth who has an extended family of "freaks". She decides to break the brothers out of the hospital and bring them to her home and provide them safe harbor. But a nosy female reporter tracks them down bringing along with her some unwanted attention. Duane finds a romantic partner in Granny's daughter and Belial finds a new love in a woman who looks just like himself. Will the brothers find happiness in there new home? Why wont this reporter leave them alone? To find out you'll have to watch Basket Case 2.
One of the reasons Basket Case 2 was made so Frank Henenlotter could get the budget he needed to make the film Frankenhooker. I don't think he ever intended any sequels because of the way the first film ended. I'm glad he made the two sequels into dark comedies because they work so much better as one instead of a straight horror film. The bigger budget is very noticeable because Belial is redesigned to look more realistic instead of a hand puppet. I really like the make up of the "freaks" because it looks very realistic and it brings out the their personalities making them individuals without them having really any speaking roles.
