The New Batman Adventures or Batman: The Animated Series revamped

I am a huge fan of Batman: The Animated Series. Although this is the 4th & last volume of the set, I bought this one first. I think I missed The New Batman Adventures  during its original run but I grew up on Batman TAS & can still watch it on the DXD channel, so that's why I started with this set.

Batman: The Animated Series was a wonderful show for both kids & adults. It had amazing animations, stellar voice actors, & great storylines. This show just doesn't hold up when compared to its predecessor. The voice acting is as great as always & the storylines are still pretty good (not great) but I don't care so much for the new character designs, especially the Joker's. Everything is more streamlined & less detailed. I prefer the detailed versons.  The one thing that I do like is that they finally gave Bruce Wayne blue eyes, whereas in the old series, they were a sort of generic dark color.

I do like the expanded "Bat Family." Batgirl is one of my favorite characters & I'm glad to see her get some screen time. I also like the introduction of the new Robin & Nightwing...mullet & all.

The special features seem a little sparse. There's a case file that features the main villains. It gives you a profile on each one & a brief commentary by the show's creators. Each disc also has one episode where you can play it with the commentary on. Hopefully, the previous volumes will have more in-depth features.

Overall, this is still a fun & entertaining series & I'm glad I own it. I'm looking forward to completing the set.

About this movie

In the hit show that continues the Batman storyline from the EmmyO-winning Batman: The Animated Series, two years have passed and Batman still protects the streets of Gotham City from the demented criminals that inhabit its dark alleys. But irreconcilable differences with Dick Grayson lead to the collapse of the Batman/Robin crimefighting duo and to the birth of Gotham's new hero Nightwing. Batgirl fights at Batman's side, and a new Robin takes flight after Batman's chance encounter with young Tim Drake. In these 24 thrilling episodes, the Gotham Knights face their worst enemies - Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many more - in a comprehensive 4-disc set that completes the Batman animated saga!
