The inspiration for Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line.

Movies like Beach Red are those that go unnoticed unless a major film production "borrows" certain elements. themes and imagery from them. Cornel Wilde made this gut punching WWII action film with such a brutal yet artistic style that is more than just eye candy. Both sides of the enemy lines are shown, instead of cardboard villains and heroes wearing white hats, we are treated to 3-dimensional characters. Cornel Wilde co-wrote, directed, produced and acted in the film along with Rip Torn (who steals the show as the bitter and war hardened sergeant).

There is no glory in combat, just survival.
