By gosh I think I wrote it myself

Pros: Makes you feel good to watch it.

Cons: Soooo predictable

The Bottom Line: If you are fond of the leads, then it is worth it to see their creditable performances.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.

I had never heard of this film before yesterday. My husband picked it up at the movie store and brought it home. I generally don't pay too much attention because I'm banging away on this here computer, but this movie DID engage my attention pretty quickly. I spent more time watching it than playing spades.

By reading the movie case, it was pretty easy to predict just about everything that happened in this movie. Sometimes that can be a good thing, if you for sure want something that has a nice "feel good" lift to it. It should be labelled that way.

Paltrow and Affleck give pleasing performances and there are lots of really significant looks between them. The acting is very believable and the dialogue seems fairly well written. The story line though, is TOO predictable. I was calling the shots early on, and my husband would turn around and say "I think that you wrote this one." Even so, it kept my attention throughout and I felt like it was worth the watch.

Would I watch it again? Probably, but not for a while.

When Buddy Amaral (Ben Affleck) decides to have a casual fling with a woman he meets in an airport, he gives up his ticket to Greg Janello (Tony Goldwyn), an earnest man on standby for the flight who is desperate to get home to his wife and child. But when the plane crashes because of snowy conditions, killing everyone on board, Buddy plunges into a sea of despair and confusion. At the edge of a nervous breakdown, Buddy seeks out Abby Janello (Gwyneth Paltrow), Greg's widow. He approaches Abby, who works as a real estate agent, under the pretense of finding a new location for his advertising agency. But, he never reveals that he knows about her husband's death. While his only intention is to do a good deed for the grieving Abby, Buddy slowly finds himself falling in love with her and she responds to him with a similar sincerity.
