I still find Captain America to be a decent movie based on the character. My original feelings haven't changed at all; the movie doesn't get any better and fortunately it doesn't get any worse. The action scenes have some pretty cool moments, and for the most part side characters were used rather well and the very light comedy meshed well too. I enjoyed Evans a lot more as Cap.

I'm still not crazy about the Red Skull at all, since he came off as another bland, power hungry stock bad guy, in which he clearly isn't. Overall, the movie was alright in developing the character and it did a good enough job setting up for the Avengers movie. Recommended if you're an action fan or fan of superheroes.

Much as I like collecting comic book adaptations, I didn't but this. The bluray was too much to pay at $ 24.99 for a mediocre movie. If it comes down to $ 9.99 or maybe used somewhere I may get this one. It was just so silly and unrealistic for me; the direction was also messy and non-engaging.

In a "alternate" universe (a la Inglorious Basterds) where Nazis had ray guns, planes that look like stealth bombers and lab equipment that looks modern day, we have another tale of World War II. Captain America: The First Avenger is a 2011 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America. It is the fifth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by Joe Johnston, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, and Stanley Tucci. The film tells the story of Steve Rogers, a sickly man from Brooklyn who is transformed into super soldier Captain America to help the war effort. However, Captain America must stop Red Skull, Adolf Hitler's ruthless head of weaponry and leader of a terrorist organization, who intends to use a mysterious tesseract energy-source for world domination.
