How about a little trip into insanity?

Pros: an entirely weird movie

Real estate developer, Nick Mancuso, has his heart set on one of the biggest projects of all time. Faced with losing his little deal, Mancuso goes just a little insane. In my opinion, it has been coming for some time and this just escalates the problem.

Mancuso has a few other problems. His car seems to keep getting broken into, his wife seems to be wandering from the homestead, his life is just basically not going right. He decides to set up' the car thieves and outfits his car in quite a unique manner. When the thief shows up again, Mancuso captures' him in the car. If he thought his life was out of control before, buddy don't look in the friggin mirror now!

One of his endearing treats for the captive in the car is to play the stereo as loud as possible, another sweet little number is not feeding him. Things begin to go ever further out of control. After one particular little trip to visit his car captive, Mancuso gets a little ticked and takes the tree loppers to the poor guys fingers. Returning to his house he discovers an intruder, who turns out to be the car captive's brother. A battle ensues, gun shots are fired ~ boom, boom, boom ~ another one bites the dust.

After talking to her husband on the phone, his wife, Linda Hoffman, realizes that Mancuso seems just a little off' and decides to return home. She finds the car captive (Andrew Divoff) locked in the car, releases him, and suddenly the tables are turned for Mancuso! Ya know, I think that is all I'm gonna give you.

This is a truly fine look into the insanity issue. At times Mancuso is shown rolling on the floor holding his head and just screaming. I might note that this manse is one huge puppy in the middle of nowhere, so no one is going to know what is going on. This is a painful movie. What starts out as a nice little burglary turns into madness.

Mancuso is unbelievably terrifying in this movie. I was looking over my shoulder several times while this was on. Divoff at first seems sort of wimpy for a robber but he suddenly turns into a person just as insane as Mancuso. They both walk on the edge of insanity in this movie. Linda Hoffman isn't all that powerful, but adds a nice female interest to the movie and what the hey, she ain't bad to look at either!

I will say this, they use a unique set of weapons in this movie ~ tree loppers, harpoons (how many people have harpoons laying around in their house?), a variety of handguns and a killer screwdriver! It was a weird little flick and I kinda liked it, but that figures. Directed by Peter Liapis.
